Today, the Sverdlovsk Region is a leading producer of transformer steel, copper and titanium alloys, electric locomotives, ventilators, and newborn care equipment in the country. It produces over a quarter of all Russian equipment used in oil and gas production and processing and is a top producer of electrical equipment in the country. The region is home to unique enterprises like the Sverdlovsk Plant of Current Transformers, a key manufacturer of power transformers and high-voltage equipment and the SVEL Group, and the Ural Turbine Works, a major player in modernising and repairing steam and gas turbines.
