Uzbekistan and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) are actively expanding their cooperation in trade and industry.
Member states of the ECO are planning to take part in the ‘INNOPROM: Central Asia’ international industrial Trade Fair, scheduled to take place in April 2025 in Tashkent.
The prospects for this participation were discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, and the ECO Secretary General, Asad Majeed Khan, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IIPT RUz).
During the meeting, the parties also explored opportunities to further strengthen the close interaction between Uzbekistan and the ECO.
Notably, over the past five years, Uzbekistan's trade turnover with ECO member states has increased by 37%, reaching $12.3 billion in 2023. Since the beginning of 2024, over 900 enterprises involving capital from ECO member countries have been established in Uzbekistan. Furthermore, ECO countries have invested more than $5 billion into Uzbekistan's economy over the past three years.
Asad Majeed Khan emphasized his commitment to supporting joint initiatives, including the ECO Agreement on Trade Facilitation and the Concept of establishing a Center for Trade, Investment, and Innovation within the framework of the ECO. These projects are currently under review by ECO member states.
