Gazprom announced its plans to open a representative office in Uzbekistan at the 'INNOPROM: Central Asia' Trade Fair, held from April 22-24 in Tashkent. This decision is likely driven by the increase in gas imports from Russia to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The company already operates representative offices in Turkmenistan and Qazaqstan.
According to RIA Novosti, Uzbekistan plans to increase gas imports from Russia to 32 million cubic meters per day over the next seven years. Gazprom’s current two-year contract with Uzbekistan allows for the supply of up to 9 million cubic meters of gas daily, meaning imports could grow 3.5 times by 2030.
